A Powerful Display of Awareness, Resilience, and Strength
The Clothesline Project is a powerful, community-centered event and part of a national campaign that began in 1990. It brings together survivors of child abuse, sexual violence, and domestic violence, along with their allies, to create shirts that honor their experiences and reflect their stories of survival and healing.
Through this shared expression, the project raises awareness about the impact of violence and abuse, uplifts the resilience of survivors, and creates space to break the silence—ensuring every story is heard, believed, and respected.
Hosted by The Cottage, Sexual Assault Center & Children’s Advocacy Center, the Clothesline Project comes to life through meaningful partnerships across our community. Each gathering creates an opportunity for connection, reflection, and collective healing.
Throughout April—Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month—we partner with organizations across Athens to host gatherings, including:
Together, these partnerships help create a community where survivors are supported and awareness leads to action.
